ABOUT STILLNESS

Take a moment to feel the simplicity of your own beauty: your hands, your breath, the weight of your body on the earth. You are simple and beautiful like a stone, a fallen branch, a red cardinal or a yellow moon is simple, and beautiful.

Each day we will find moments to move from the still and quiet practice of meditation into practices of collective singing, authentic movement and collective wisdom dialogue. We will explore how the power of stillness moves into embodiment and can become a to tool for navigating emotions, relationships, creativity, focus and all kinds of challenges in in everyday life. This class is for BIPOC folks and it is inspired by and guided by the teachings of the Buddha through the lens of contemporary Black and Brown Buddhist practitioners.

I would have never come to meet all my different guides and protectors and energies were it not for the ways that Sojourner really creatively and playfully leads space.
— Pascale Williams, Stillness Participant
I have my ancestors and I understand Orishas and different guides that are coming from ancient traditions and lineage, but the ways that we are connected to our own wisdom… This is the invitation that Sojourner presents.
— Stillness participant
I have visualized very specific things that I can call back to in spaces that Sojourner has held. Their meditations are really powerful and important and still resonant.
